Beginner's Photography - Week 1
I’m currently taking a beginners photography course. I’ve always been interested in photography, but never really stuck with it for many reasons, so I’m taking a course to help solidify my knowledge, and also give me some defined tasks to practise with a little bit more intention.
This weeks assignment was to find and create images using shapes in interesting ways.
Up first is this photo of Kiwi in his favourite tube. I’m trying to highlight the circle of the tube, but with the added interest of Kiwi lounging inside.
Nap time.
This photo was taken a couple weeks ago, before the photography course started, but I wanted to repurpose it for this assignment. It was taken in the morning, and for whatever reason the lighting on this library window was super green (I have tweaked the colours ever so slightly, but much less than it looks). I cropped this to try and highlight the rectangular nature of the window.
I really like how the shadows from the tree seem to loom over the window.
This last one is of my tube compressor, I really wanted to try and get a photo that highlights the movement of the needle on the VU meter. I think I’m nearly there, but I still want to try and retake this photo at some point to see if I can amplify that sense of movement. I tried playing around with lighting, I’m shining my phone flashlight from underneath, which gives some interesting shadows from underneath.
This compressor sounds amazing, I love how modern it's features are, but how vintage is sounds.
